Scalable Self-Assembly for Ad Hoc Wireless Sensor Networks

چکیده
In distributed wireless sensing applications such as unattended ground sensor systems, remote planetary exploration, and condition based maintenance, where the deployment site is remote and/or the scale of the network is large, individual emplacement and configuration of the sensor nodes is difficult. Hence network self-assembly and continuous network self-organization during the lifetime of the network in a reliable, efficient, and scalable manner are crucial for successful deployment and operation of such networks. This paper provides an overview of the concept of network self-assembly for ad-hoc wireless sensor networks at the link level, with descriptions of results from implementation of a novel network formation mechanism for wireless un-attended ground sensor applications using a multi-cluster hierarchical topology and a novel dual-radio architecture.

Design and evaluation of two scalable protocols for location management of mobile nodes in location based routing protocols in mobile Ad Hoc Networks
Heretofore several position-based routing protocols have been developed for mobile ad hoc networks. Many of these protocols assume that a location service is available which provides location information on the nodes in the network. Our solutions decrease location update without loss of query success rate or throughput and even increase those.Simulation results show that our methods are effectiv...

متن کاملEvaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...
متن کاملDesign of a Low Cost Radio Based Ad hoc Communication System for Rural Areas
Abstract: Mobile ad hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile hosts which are interconnected by a communication media like radio. The communication network is formed without the aid of any centralized authority or preexisting infrastructure. By its characteristic this type of network is self-starting and self-organizing. It has been observed that mobile ad hoc networks can be exploited for...
متن کاملPerformance Of A Novel Self-Organization Protocol For Wireless Ad-Hoc Sensor Networks
The paper presents an ad-hoc architecture for wireless sensor networks and other wireless systems similar to them. In this class of wireless system the physical resource at premium is energy. Bandwidth available to the system is in excess of system requirements. The approach to solve the problem of ad-hoc network formation here is to use available bandwidth in order to save energy. The method i...
